Meet the Founder – Jabarri Porter

Jabarri Porter is the visionary founder behind Birch House Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Driven by compassion and a deep sense of responsibility, Jabarri has made it his mission to create a space where individuals are not only cared for—but truly valued.

Jabarri’s passion for this work is rooted in personal experience. Growing up, he spent much of his time supporting a close family member with developmental challenges. He witnessed firsthand both the beauty and the struggle—moments of joy, resilience, and connection, alongside the frustration of navigating a system that often fell short. Too often, he saw individuals treated as cases instead of people, and families left feeling unsupported and overwhelmed.

Those experiences shaped Jabarri’s perspective and ignited a lifelong commitment to advocacy. He recognized a critical gap: many individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities were not receiving the level of care, patience, and dignity they deserved. Determined to be part of the solution, he founded Birch House Foundation.

At the heart of Jabarri’s mission is a simple but powerful belief: every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. He is committed to building more than just a care facility—he is creating a community. A place where residents feel safe, understood, and empowered to live fulfilling lives.
